Hi! I’m Melissa.
Back when I was rockin’ the braces and butterfly clips deep in the heart of Texas, I felt an unshakable call to ministry, even though I had no idea what that would look like. Life has a funny way of twisting and turning (you’ll learn all about my winding way while reading my posts), and after a few speed bumps and dead ends along the way, I found myself married in the Midwest with a calling to ordained ministry as I write, research, and serve in the local church.
My husband’s beard is better than yours. We are both ordained clergy in the United Methodist Church. While we’re not co-pastoring, we’re drinking coffee. We love to dance, CrossFit, read books, and laugh. A lot. We met at Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, TX, and got married a week after we graduated (I don’t recommend planning a wedding and writing a thesis at the same time). Two weeks after the wedding, we moved to Kansas to start our married life together.
I sing in the shower every day, I have a semi-green thumb and love to try my hand at gardening, and I lose my phone fairly regularly. I also really love Jesus, and I’m trying my best to love people. This blog will be full of rants, raves, redemptive moments, and radical thoughts on God, Christianity in America, the Bible, and ministry. Enjoy!
