Rev. Melissa Collier Gepford
Hi! I’m Melissa.
Back when I was rockin’ braces and butterfly clips deep in the heart of East Texas, I felt an unshakable call to ministry, even though I had no idea what that would look like. To be honest, “call” for me, is fluid – Spirit has called me to all sorts of work and wonder.
I currently serve as the the Intergenerational Discipleship Coordinator of the Great Plains Conference (all of Kansas and Nebraska), where I support United Methodist Churches to establish healthy kids, youth, small group, and care ministries.
As an ordained deacon, I connect church people to the world and light up when I can help folks sense the wonder and mystery in the mundane.
Maybe you love your church, and it’s a healthy, loving, and vibrant community of folks working toward loving God and each other better. I want to partner with you to continue to create spaces and healthy ministry systems so that your experience becomes the norm!
Or maybe you’ve been wounded deeply by the church. I have too. You’re safe here – to question, to wonder, to cry, to scream – whatever you need to do to complete that stress cycle.
I think it’s okay to deconstruct. And I don’t think you have to reconstruct. But in this space, you’re invited to reclaim and reframe theologies, traditions, and practices that have experienced a hostile takeover by nationalism, fundamentalism, and white supremacy.
I enjoy drinking good coffee, working out, and testing my semi-green thumb. I have been married to Bill for nearly a decade, and we enjoy dancing on their hardwood floors. Our two-year-old son Finnegan keeps us on our toes, which just reinforces my coffee habit.
